WINONA, MINNESOTA – Living in Minnesota, we know how to keep people warm. Living on the beautiful Mississippi River, we know how important it is to do everything we can to help preserve and minimize the impact on the environment. Bringing these two elements together, we have created Llama Lo™ and are offering unique, high-quality winter hats and blankets made from recycled wool.
Llama Lo is a subsidiary of Miller Waste Mills, Inc., a family owned textile mill that has been reclaiming and recycling natural fibers since 1923. Our company name, “Llama Lo,” was born from one of our CEO’s favorite Hebrew phrases, which means “why not?” After consulting with a local Rabbi to confirm, our company’s name was born. So why not try a new spin on yarn? With that simple question, we started a new spin on recycle and since 2011 our recycled wool products have been spun, and crafted in the Midwest.
Because our winter hats and blankets are made from recycled wool sweaters, the color variations of our yarn are as unique as the sweaters they came from. To further reduce our environmental impact, we do not dye the yarn, but carefully sort the sweaters to achieve the blends and colors you see in our products. We also take pride in the fact that our products are made in Minnesota, supporting other small businesses, and supporting American jobs while minimizing our carbon footprint.
We believe keeping textiles out of the landfills and giving them a new life is important and we stand by our commitment to find new and exciting ways to transform our recycled wool into high-quality products for people to use and enjoy.
